Granada Cafe Tapas Bar, 154 Melbourne Street, South Brisbane, QLD 4101, Ph: 0738444757

Date of Review: 28 July 2012

Conveniently situated on Melbourne Street, near Brisbane's cultural precinct, Granada is the ideal place to grab a bite before a show. If you have more than six people dining, there's the option of ordering one of the two set menus. Priced at $45 and $40 a head, this is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to try a variety of dishes in a short amount of time.

The bar is long and narrow and the decor is minimalist - with dark wooden flooring and Spanish style accents. For a pre-show dinner and drink this place is perfect - not too crowded but enough buzz to create an inviting atmosphere.

Atmosphere: 5/5

A delicious selection of cocktails, including the essential Spanish sangria, made for an exquisite first sip. Plus a jug of sangria has five glasses worth in it, making it ideal for a group. We ordered the $45pp set menu which allowed us to relax and concentrate on the conversation rather than the menu. $45pp delivered ten courses and because I'd advised in advance that I was gluten-free, I even had some dishes prepared just for me! The portion sizes were huge and the five of us could not get through everything. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious - full of flavour and beautifully presented.

Food: 20/20

The staff were friendly and welcoming and able to advise which of the set menu dishes I could and couldn't eat. And for those I couldn't eat, I was given my very own gluten-free alternative dish anyway! Extra marks have to be given here - this is the only restaurant I have been to where this has happened.

Staff: 10/10

Exceptional value for money at $45 pp for ten generously sized courses.

Value: 10/10

The restaurant was very clean but only had one ladies' bathroom, so gets marked down on this.

Cleanliness: 4/5
