Bustling and busy, Chow House is the perfect spot to relax over brunch or coffee. Located in up-market James St, Chow House has clean, crisp furnishings and oozes style. Plus it is the perfect place to people watch - with its large outdoor dining area. The staff were generally attentive, although on one occasion our meals came out without cutlery and those salt and pepper shakers were a bit dodgy!

Atmosphere: 4/5

The first time we dined at ChowHouse, we had lattes and gluten free chocolate brownie. Both were delicious and the lattes came out in these great little plastic holders, which meant you could still drink them immediately without burning your hands on the glass.

The second time we dined here was for brunch. Again the coffee was great and the gluten free bircher muesli (which my friend had) looked divine. The haloumi with roasted potato and poached egg that I ordered was equally delectable. Plus the menu has an excellent range of gluten free items, some of which are clearly marked and others can be made gluten free upon request.

Food: 18/20

The prices on the menu were reasonable with most brunch meals averaging around the $14/$15 mark.

Value: 4/5

TOTAL SCORE: 26/30 or 87%

brunch, haloumi, roast pumpkin, gluten free brunch, bircher muesli, gluten free coffee, latte gluten free, chocolate brownie
